Romney Has Secret Healthcare Plan for the Ladies

As a member of the fairer sex, I can speak with some authority on my delight and surprise to learn from the communications director for the Republican National Committee, Sean Spicer, on CNN this morning that Mitt Romney has a (secret?) plan to provide women with better healthcare — well now ladies, isn’t that a fucking relief! He went on to explain how de-regulation in general, will be a boon to women running small businesses so we can all afford to buy those Cadillac healthcare policies.

Golly, now that they’ve finally explained it to us without all those troubling details which hurt our pretty little heads, surely women will simply flock to the Republican way of thinking…

Or not — a new Quinnipiac poll shows that Romney trails Obama by a whopping 18 points among likely women voters, with Romney at 38 percent, to Obama’s solid 56%.

What gives?

Probably his retrograde, indeed dinosaurish, policy positions on women’s issues. Among the most egregious we find:

*A pledge to expand Bush-era rule that denies women access to contraception.

*A commitment to overturn Roe v. Wade.

Romney Plan

*A plan to “get rid of” Planned Parenthood.

*A coordinated state-level push to deny women control of their own bodies.

In my state of Michigan, fifteen lawmakers who endorse Romney voted to require women to explain why they want an abortion, and one even sponsored a bill limiting when women may seek an abortion, even if her life is in jeopardy.

And now we learn that in Illinois pharmacists are allowed to refuse to dispense Plan-B contraceptives for religious reasons.

So ladies….how are we really feeling about the GOP healthcare plan for women? Myself, I’m shocked that 38% among us are so clueless. We really should be smarter than this.

Gosh, Amy, it seems like the Romneyites are once again trying to put the toothpaste back in the tube. It is indeed frustrating to watch but, I think, thanks to your vigilance, most will see it for what it is – an exercise in futility. Sometimes it can even be entertaining to observe these hypocrites talk out of both side of their mouths.
